50 Comes up for England. They will be happy with the start. Indians have missed out on early wickets with the new ball. Shami has struggled with his lines. Bowling half-volleys outside off and on the pads. Robson has made a point to dismiss those to the boundary rope. Cook meanwhile, has looked cautious. He crashed one for a boundary off the back foot off Bhuvneshwar and that might have given him a lot of confidence.

OUT! Shami draws first blood. Robson departs. Jadeja manages to hold on to this one at 3rd slip. Eng-55/1. Good length delivery on off, nips away. Robson pushes at it and gets an outside edge to third slip where Jadeja - this time - manages to hold on.

Ballance started off the session in a nervy manner as Pankaj Singh beat his outside edge on a couple of occasions but then flicked one to fine leg for a boundary. Cook then got into the groove and pulled one off Shami for a boundary. He then reached his 36th fifty with a pull for a couple.

Drinks break. It seems all too easy for Cook and Ballance after lunch. They have now added 71 unbeaten runs. Pankaj Singh has been the one impressive bowler so far for India. The pitch has eased up and looks good for batting. It's gong to be hard work for the Indian bowlers.
