India take on Belgium in their first game of the Hockey World Cup today. The game begins at 1930 hrs IST and we will have live coverage for you. Just us then.
The tournament is already under way, with defending champions Australia beating Malaysia 4-0. Australia scored three goals in a four minute span in the second half, with two goals from Glenn Turner.
India coach Terry Walsh has tempered expectation for this tournament. The team simply isn't consistent enough to challenge the best in the world. But they will want to improve on their performance four years ago.
India finished eighth in the 2010 World Cup. They won just one group game, drew another and lost three. Then India lost 4-2 to Argentina in the playoff for seventh and eighth position.

The ball is worked backwards and across and Belgium now attempts to work down the left.

The attack stalls when India win a free hit.
The ball is lofted up the left and out of play and Belgium come forward again.
8 mins: Sardar Singh plays a lazy pass cross field and it is easily intercepted.
The danger man Boon is n ow on the field.
10 mins: A spectacular cross-field ball out of defense gets India going down the right. The ball is flashed into the D but Mandeep can't get to it and it runs out of play.
12 mins: India enjoy some possession for a change but the ball is lost in midfield.
Belgium again break down the right and win a long corner.
The ball is past straight to India though.

13 mins: India unable to break through the Belgium defense and Belgium steams forward again down the left but again the attack peters out.
Neither team has had a shot on goal yet.
Belgium have a free hit in front of the D.
16 mins: SAVE! Sreejesh sticks out a leg as a Belgium player flashes in front of goal and gets a deflection. Follows that up with another save from the rebound.
Belgium come charging down the right again and earn another long corner.

17 mins: India gives the ball away and Belgium have a 3 on 1 and break into the D but an India player gets the block in just in time.
18 mins: Belgium have the first penalty corner of the game.
The referee blows for dangerous play and Belgium ask for a video review.
The video umpire has ruled it is a penalty corner instead as the ball hit the India defender on the calf, so below the knee.
19 mins: India break forward in a rush after defending the penalty corner but the ball is miscontrolled on the right and India waste a good chance.
